I knew this day was coming, but this soon?

As I was giving Junior breakfast and bellowing, "C is for Cookie," Junior gave me the look. The oh-my-God-you-are-an-embarrassment-to-me-and-my-fellow-little-people look.

I can't be lame already. Sputter. Gasp. He's only 18 months.

Maybe it was gas. Yes, yes, yes! It was a gas bubble that pushed on the nerve in his belly that controls his eyebrows and it caused them to furrow. And then the weight of the furrow pushed down on his cheeks and made the corners of his mouth scrunch up.

That's obviously it. Phew. I mean shit, that was close.

Well, gas CAN cause a multitude of facial expressions. I'm sure that's it. That's what causes those 'I just know I'm so much cooler than you' smirks that Xander does.

He was probably wondering why you were singing about cookies but not actually giving him one...I get quite annoyed when people tease me with possible cookies too...

Can I use the gas excuse when it comes to my 4 and 6 year olds? Cos that would be really handy!!

*giggles* If I am an embarrassment to Katie's peeps, I just consider it paybacks! :)

(There gassy faces are pretty cute--I think I even have a few pictures of gassy Katie scrunchin' up her face--that's weird, isn't it?)

Hello, that's "their faces." Yep, and I'm an embarrassment to all English teachers...whatever...

That day is not as far off as you might think. One day they're laughing at your antics, the next day they're hiding their face in embarrassment. Though frankly, I live to embarrass my children. It keeps things entertaining.

He's just giving you that look at eighteen months? Wow, he's behind. :)

I'm pretty sure my daughter first rolled her eyes at me when she was about 8 months old. Practicing for the teen years or just passing gas...

Embarrassing my children is some of the only fun I get.
