Where your path takes you
We're still drying out from last week's flood. That picture above is/was my dining room. Somewhere in there a leftover Christmas poinsettia is being attacked by mold spores dragged up from our basement.
Mwahahahha.
Just when I thought my house couldn’t possibly get more cluttered, my father stopped by. He lives in Mulletville Lite a few towns over, and his basement flooded too. While wading through the relics in his basement, he found some crap from my childhood—and decided to reunite me with it.
Some of the things are in good shape. Like this Fisher Price Play Family A Frame House, circa 1974.
Love A frames.
And the 1970 Fisher Price Parking Ramp Service center, now deemed vintage.
Ehem.
Junior's been having a blast playing with the legless family. They've been driving all over town. For them, life was new and exciting all over again.
Then, the inevitable happened. Junior inched them closer to the tracks. No! Not the tracks.
And announced that they were going to the Island of Sodor.
I can only imagine their disappointment. Thirty years in a basement only to end up there? Or maybe I'm projecting. Onto little plastic people with no discernible limbs or genitals.
Don't judge me. It's been a long month.

I want to thank everyone who left me a comment on my flea post. I seriously expected comments like “You’re disgusting!” or “I’m never coming...

I totally remember those toys. And weebles! Did you have weebles? They looked like the same little dudes but with round bottoms so you could smack the shit out of them all day long and they would never fall over. I was a violent kid.
Loved the weebles! Beating them was so much fun.
Awwww, memories!
But I guess Thomas will out, eh?
So very sorry.
I have got to post about cleaning up the toy closet. Forty million times. SO glad that's done. All of my kids' current toys live in an iphone.
Weebles wobble but they don't fall down! Love the house but I have to agree with you on taking the innocent legless people to that island.
What about the airport? Didn't you also have the Fisher Price Airport with the plane and all the tiny plastic luggage that the people couldn't even carry 'cause they had no hands?
Damn, I miss those toys!
omg! I had one of those A-frame houses!
Hit Ebay, dude, pay off some loans! I may or may not be the person bidding on them.
I had that Fisher Price Ramp set and I also remember those "people"!! I can still remember playing with it. Wow, you just brought back a lot of memories.
I wish you all the best in drying out.
What's with the dude in the cowboy hat?
Don't you just love parents and their "I can't bear to part with it so I'll give it to you and you can do with it what you will" generosity?
Good luck getting dried out! It is that time of the year.
I don't remember those toys, but your projection is hilarious!
I still have a Weeble.
Ahhhhahahaha. I think sometimes that I am living on the Island of Sodor!
I use to love my peoples and the service station, we also had the school house where one side opened up :) They rocked!
Did you ever notice tht if the people and the weeble wobbles got in a fight the weebles won? why? cause weebles wobble but they don't fall down! ;)
how cute are those.
Oh, those bring back memories. We didn't have any ourselves but my Aunt Anna did. So much fun to play house with them. She still has them and my son gets to play with them when he goes to visit.
Relax and breathe, it's a happy place and all the little folk will be fine.
You know, that garage is awesome. They don't make anything nearly that cool anymore.
Weebles made great ammunition! Ever get nailed in the back with one of those. It left a mark for weeks.
I feel for the family that has to go to Sodor. They finally get out of the basement and end up at the one place on earth that desperately needs a Starbucks just to keep the residents awake.
roflmao.
It's better than what my son would have done, which is blasting the heck out of them with is Iron Man. Sodor seems like a lovely trip after a laser blast hits your butt.
Hmmm, laser blasts hitting your butt is a compelling argument...
Did you even play with those? They look vintage new!
I can't stop laughing. I hated the island of Sodor. Oh, it was great at first, until I spent every dime I ever earned on those damn tracks and trains.
However, I am so impressed that you kept your toys in such good shape. Mine were colored all over, they might have been involved with firecrakers in the later years. They never would have made it to Vintage.
Man, your FP stuff looks like it's in MINT condition. You should totally sell it on ebay. On our garage, the little red and white rope for the gas pump is all frayed, and I think some child ate the pump handle a long time ago. And your little people are in great shape too. Our dog, Casey, did a number on all of our people.
And, am I the only one who thinks "Island of Sodor" reminds me of "sodom and gomorrah". I dont' know why... it just does.
I loved those toys - we also had the bus and the farm.
Such great toys!!
Awesome. I miss the 'real' little people!!
Oh my gawd, I totally had those Fisher Price peeps...and the house & garage. I miss the greatness that was those toys. I feel bad that they've ended up Sodor. Poor things.
Gah! The garage is spectacular! I'm jealous.
